Is Tinnitus a Disease or a Symptom ?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

If you have Tinnitus then you are most probably familiar with some of the most common causes.
There is a whole list of them for you to choose from.
Only when you start to analyze the known facts and their probable consequences will the whole scope of Tinnitus start to unfold.
There can be a million reasons why you have Tinnitus. Lets take a brief look at some of the most common symptoms for tinnitus. How many of these symptoms can you apply to yourself? Add more if you have to.
Lack of concentration,
Headaches,
Fatigue,
Social retreat,
Depressive moods,
Lack of patience,
Nervousness,
Panic attacks,
Anxiety,
Apprehension,
Stress and tension,
Lack of self confidence,
Insomnia,
Exhaustion,
Devaluation,
Other than the hearing loss which is physical, all other symptoms listed here are of a subconscious nature. Lets get 3 important things into perspective here. I will repeat these 3 sentences until they are tattooed into your soul.
1. Tinnitus is not a disease, it is a symptom!
2. You are not sick and you are not mentally ill. You are being warned!
3. You will defeat tinnitus if you accept it as a part of you.
As soon as you are ready to accept that the tinnitus is a part of you, the sooner you can expect to make progress.
The power of the mind is extraordinary. Think about this carefully. If tinnitus succeeded in turning your life upside down then accept the fact that all it used to achieve misery was your own mind. Thats quite an achievement isnt it ?
Thats how powerful your mind is. If it has the capability to make your life a complete misery then surely it can be re-programmed to do the opposite.
Its entirely up to you. The solution lies within yourself and your ability to learn.
What do we know about the causes of tinnitus?.
Where does it have its roots?
Ever heard of social sickness? Me either. Its a phrase that I like though. Here in Germany its called “Volkskrankheit”(has nothing to do with cars).
I once tried to compile a list of all elements which I suspected may have contributed to MY own tinnitus. Obviously, I listed the negative aspects of my life over a 10 year period. Some of these things could have been avoided, most of them were linked to each other. Dont forget, this is only a list of things that I think should be mentioned.
Ive tried not to generalize and Ive tried my best to stay honest, even if it means confessing to some bad sins. To be perfectly honest its not as dramatic as it looks. It just looks outrageous when written down!
Marital Stress,
Heavy smoking,
Drug and medication abuse, (i.e. Valium, Marijuana, Cocaine)
Relationship crisis,
unhealthy eating habits,
Loud noises,
Lack of exercise,
High cholesterol,
High blood sugar rate,
Personal loss,
Caffeine addiction (coffee and cola)
Lack of sleep,
Financial Problems,
Overweight,
Business pressures,
Inclination to worry about everything.
So there we have it.
It looks terrible I know. The worst thing is that I am one of millions who used to live like this. If you cant identify with anything written on this list then you shouldnt have tinnitus. Any one of these elements on their own would be harmful enough for any person.
Combine them and youre left with a time bomb waiting to explode. So now we have two lists. The first one above describes the symptoms and the second one describes possible causes. If you look carefully at the causes it wont take much imagination to conjure up a “symptom list” like the one above. What else do you expect?.
I dare you take a pen and paper and write down your own “bad list”. Be absolutely honest and write down all the things that you arent proud of or maybe would rather forget. Write down all the things you would like to change if you had a magic wand. ( My bad list is there for everyone to see. You can hide yours!
By the way, you dont have to have tinnitus to create a list like mine. I would be willing to bet that EVERYONE can come up with a list similar to mine. I say only similar because I know that not everyone is overweight, or smokes or tried drugs.
Think carefully about what you are reading on your list. If you are very honest, you will find that you dont need a magic wand to shorten this list. The only person on this planet that can change this list to something to be proud of is YOU!. I consider myself to be lucky. Tinnitus gave me a chance to re-shuffle my life
Once more. Please dont forget:
1. Tinnitus is not a disease, it is a symptom.
2. You are not sick and you are not mentally ill. You are being warned!
3. You will defeat tinnitus if you accept it as a part of you.
After an “auditory crash ” two years ago which left me with a temporary loss of all hearing I had no other choice than to take action. Ive been looking for an English Term for the German word Hoersturz. In fact this term is made of 2 words. “Hoer” (to hear ) and Sturz ( to crash ). Sounds nice right ?
Anyway this “Auditory Crash” of hearing lasted almost 2 days at the most and thanks to my doctor, I was up and about a week later.
After reading many books and collecting all the information I could find, I decided to take action. I didnt know it then, but the decision to cut out everything that was harming me probably saved my life.
Did you already write down your own list ?. If not, lets imagine this is your list.
Where do you start?
There are some things you can change straight away and without hesitation. Other things will require great patience, lots of time and the will to change.
“Lets start at the very beginning, a very good place you start” ( Richard Rodgers 1902-1979 )

Tinnitus Forces you to Learn

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Do you know the main reason why most people don’t get the results they desire? It’s because they don’t follow through on anything long enough to get the desired effect. They give up before they reach their goal because it’s either too hard, takes too long or it’s too much trouble.

How can anyone ever hope to get what they want in life if they keep giving up and making excuses why they couldn’t follow through? For example; did you know that on a very regular basis I have people who, after downloading my “Practical Guide to Tinnitus Free Living” package, they email me, often within a week, and say that it doesn’t work for them?

Well, I can honestly say that the reason it didn’t work for them is that these people have obviously decided on some sort of time frame that it’s supposed to work. Life doesn’t work like that. Any worthwhile result is worth a consistent amount of positive doing until the result is achieved. Giving up before you achieve it just means that you’ve learned to accept a life that is created by default.

How can anyone say that something doesn’t work if they only give it a couple of days? What I offer in my teachings is help for tinnitus sufferers but it’s also an entirely new way of living. To re-learn how to live after so many years of suffering is not an easy thing to do but, it is possible. Yet, because tinnitus sufferers are so conditioned to expect the worst they usually get it. Their fear, worry and doubt about everything keeps them where they are.

I’m speaking from experience when I say these things. I think I hold the world’s record for fear and worry. I used to worry about everything then, one day, I got tinnitus and my world changed forever. At first I blamed the world for giving me this disease but after almost 3 years of struggle I realized that I only have myself to blame.

The simple truth is, somehow I consciously or unconsciously invited, attracted and allowed tinnitus into my life. How? Through the law of attraction. By focusing entirely on fear and worry I managed to manifest the very thing I was trying to avoid.

Everything in my life at the time I contracted tinnitus was going wrong. It only stands to reason that something as devastating as tinnitus would eventually show up. However, I now regularly thank the universe for giving me tinnitus instead of cancer or some other more serious disease. Tinnitus allowed me to see life in a whole new way without the threat of losing it.

Did it take work on my part to change my life situation? Yes, of course. It took a lot of work. And, my intention with my teachings is to shorten your learning curve on how to get what you want in your life instead of what you don’t want. Yet, it still amazes me that even after compiling to the best of my ability the information that people need, they still manage to dismiss it after only a few days.

What exactly am I trying to say? That anything worthwhile in life is worth a certain amount of effort and a detachment from the amount of time you think it will take to get the result you want. Think about it this way; if everything you ever wanted was handed to you on a silver platter without any effort, just exactly what would be the point to life? What would you learn?

Tinnitus is a learning experience. It will teach you many things about yourself and about life if you’re just open to learning. Learning is the key to living. Granted, you may not want to learn the lessons that tinnitus can teach you but rest assured, these lessons are the key to manifesting a life of true happiness. These lessons will force you to focus on living instead of suffering.

As I’ve said many times before, there is no mysterious force in the universe that causes random suffering. You must choose whether to wallow in grief and despair or step up to the plate, learn something then, empower your life on a level that’s deeper than anything you’ve encountered in the past. Getting in touch with your true purpose is the only way to true happiness. Tinnitus can actually force you into learning what that purpose is. Accept it, and run with it.

Tinnitus: An Overview

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

If you often hear some buzzing sounds in your ears, it is something that should look into. Chances are you might be experiencing Tinnitus. Tinnitus is commonly referred to as ‘ringing ears’ or ‘head noise’. To some people, it is known as ‘the club disease’ because some people experience a pulsing sound in their ears right after being exposed to loud sounds.
Emotional and physical stress can make tinnitus even worse. Loud noises can also infect the eardrums that may result to physical damage in the more sensitive areas of your inner ear. The nerves, cochlea and eardrums are parts of ear that should be taken care of and in worst cases, tinnitus can lead hearing loss.
The first thing you should do when you hear some whistling or hissing sounds in your ear is to consult your doctor. With proper medical attention, the root cause of tinnitus can be discovered. Tinnitus can be attributed to kidney malfunctions, high blood pressure and allergies. It can also be caused by emotional instability, drug intake and overexposure to loud noises.
There are a lot of things you can do to alleviate the ringing sounds in your ears. Proper diet can effectively lessen the risk of tinnitus. A doctor can give you professional advice on whether you should undergo medical or surgical treatment. In some unfortunate cases, the cause of tinnitus can never be pointed out. If this is the case then you can look for other alternatives to help you lessen the ‘ringing’ of your ears.
A lot of studies have been devoted on how to eliminate tinnitus. Hypnosis and relaxation therapy are some of the unconventional ways of treating this ailment. Drug and vitamin therapy can also be an option. More modern ways of treating tinnitus include biofeedback and electrical stimulation.
A tinnitus masker can be an effective tool in coping with tinnitus. Maskers are somewhat similar to hearing aides. They produce certain sounds that can disguise the annoying sounds of tinnitus. Most patients would rather hear something apart from what they hear inside their heads and maskers are giving off soothing sounds that can get your mind off the whistling sound of tinnitus.
To prevent tinnitus, try to stay away from loud noises as in concerts and clubs. Be extra careful on cleaning your ears as you may damage some sensitive parts of your inner ear. Life would never be as beautiful without good ears to hear. So at first sign of ringing in your ears, immediately head for your doctor for proper advice.

Now, At Last! Tinnitus Cure Is Discovered.

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Tinnitus or ringing of the ears can occur at any age. The ringing or buzzing noise which may be experienced in one or both ears can be continuous or it may perhaps come and go. The exact reason of how tinnitus occurs is still not completely understood by doctors. Around ten percent of people experience mild tinnitus and carry on with life as normal. However when some people first experience tinnitus it can be frightening and create stress and anxiety. Although it is not an illness you should see your doctor, who will clearly explain the condition to you. Just understanding more and realizing how common tinnitus is will probably put your mind at ease. Many people with tinnitus experience difficulty getting to sleep because when everything is quiet the ringing or noise in the ears seems louder and more intense which can be frustrating and cause irritability. Many find it helpful to play relaxation or meditation music quietly, to create a soothing background noise. Water features and nature sounds are also helpful. Some doctors suggest alternative and complementary treatments, also known as holistic. Holistic therapy treats the whole body and instead of alleviating the symptom it gets rid of the cause of the problem. A number of people have been fortunate enough to discover Contact Reflex Analysis and are now cured of tinnitus.
Contact Reflex Analysis is an uncomplicated, safe and natural technique of analyzing the body’s structural, physical and nutritional needs. A deficiency in any of these areas could cause or help to create an assortment of acute or chronic health problems. Contact Reflex Analysis or CRA is a means by which a health expert uses the body’s reflexes to precisely establish the source of a health problem and provides the health expert with the solution to correct it. I found a brilliant qualified CRA practitioner about eight years ago. When I met her I had been taking 300mg axid or zantac per day for seventeen years for the treatment of a duodenal ulcer and a hiatal hernia. I had been diagnosed with these conditions seventeen years previously as a result of having barium meals and camera tests in the hospital. When she tested me with CRA neither of the electrical reflexes for duodenal ulcer or hiatal hernia tripped out for me (which meant I didn’t have them) anyway to cut a long story short, I haven’t taken any medication for eight years now and I have never felt better.
I do not suffer from tinnitus but I do have to manage my frustration when I see people suffering unnecessarily because they cannot be open-minded enough to at least look into alternative choices. My sister was rushed into hospital diagnosed as having an acute gall bladder and was a week away from surgery to remove it. After much coaxing (and frustration management) I managed to have her tested with my CRA practitioner and fortunately she decided to postpone her operation for a few weeks and try the natural path with CRA. That was almost twelve months ago. My sister took some nutritional supplements and within twelve weeks she was feeling on top of the world. The doctors and nurses at the hospital were baffled when the second x-ray revealed there was no longer a problem and they now want to investigate her liver. Had they removed her gall bladder they wouldn’t have dealt with the underlying cause but CRA did.
You really do not have to suffer with tinnitus any longer, simply find a CRA qualified practitioner.

How Stress and Anxiety are Connected to Tinnitus

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Stress can cause many problems and exacerbate others, including Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears. Many individuals suffer from this malady and can deal with it on a daily basis until stress levels rise and then the Tinnitus becomes significantly worse.
Of course, there are many different reasons why an individual may develop Tinnitus, but stress and anxiety can intensify the effects of the ringing in the ears. Because of this individuals with Tinnitus need to manage the stress in their lives to minimize the effects.
In general, when an individual suffers from tinnitus the body feels as if it is being attacked at all times. So, the effects are never-ending and the body ultimately responds in a physical way with additional problems like insomnia, anxiety, and even depression. Once these responses occur they only serve to intensify the tinnitus, which is just a violent circle. Because of this it is incredibly important for sufferers to find a way to relax and keep their symptoms at bay (as much as possible) instead of stressing out and exacerbating them. Of course, this is much easier to say than to actually implement. But, nevertheless, it is very important to make an effort to achieve. Sufferers of tinnitus know this very well and try their best not to stress out because the ringing in their ears only gets worse.
It is unfortunate that tinnitus makes individuals stress out over their symptoms and then their stressing only causes their symptoms to worsen. Fortunately, for individuals with tinnitus there are ways to get stress under control before it gets out of hand and causes the individual worse ringing in their ears. One example of a way to reduce stress is to simply exercise. It has been proven that exercise really helps individuals relax, forget about whats bothering them, and simply enjoy life. Those with tinnitus should exercise every single day in order to relax, forget about their ringing ears for just a bit, and hopefully relax enough to keep the symptoms from getting too bad. Another good option for reducing stress is to take part in yoga and meditation and even have a massage on a regular basis.
Nobody wants to have tinnitus and those who do certainly dontt want their symptoms to get any worse than they have to. Due to this individuals suffering from tinnitus should make all efforts to live a low key and relaxing life that has as little stress as possible. And, in addition to this tinnitus sufferers should do their best to exercise and take part in relaxation exercises to keep what stress they do have at bay. Many individuals suffer from tinnitus and of them approximately 90% experience exaggerated symptoms when subjected to stressful situations.
Because of this individuals with tinnitus must do all they can in order to reduce stress in their lives so they may live an enjoyable life

Cure Tinnitus

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Tinnitus are sounds that are heard in the ear but no sounds are made externally. All these sounds are created in the ear and can be in heard in either one or both ears. Tinnitus can come across as both a brief and permanent problem. The noise is rather disturbing leading to no concentration and affects sleep which is medically referred to as Insomnia. Don’t worry if you have this. Your not alone as twenty percent of people get this and its really likely to occur after the age of sixty.

The thing that I must tell you as its important for you to know, Tinnitus is not I repeat IS NOT a mental condition and IS NOT a disease tinnitus its just simply symptoms of losing hearing or something. You may seek medical help however it might be best if you try and cure it yourself since it isn‘t a condition. Rarely is it signs of any serious condition but by all means see your G.P as they are all there to help cause its important that you make sure its not that rare serious condition!

Well the main thing that a lot of us want to know why do we get it and what causes it?

Well I have the answer for you. As tinnitus is related to any condition of the ear mainly by hearing loss so anything that you can think of that affects the hearing. Also Méniére’s disease, aspirin, head injury and anaemia. If its only in one ear then I can tell you immediately that this is caused by a acoustic neuroma.

There are two main types of tinnitus subjective tinnitus and Objective tinnitus. So firstly Subjective tinnitus is what you can hear in the inner, outer and middle ears.

Objective tinnitus is tinnitus that your doctor can hear. Its rare but unlike subjective that caused by disorder’s of nerves, objective is caused by blood, muscle or inner bone disorders.

Consider seeking medical advise when

You have an upper respiratory infection, such as a cold, and your tinnitus doesn’t improve within a week.

See your doctor as soon as possible if you have tinnitus that occurs suddenly or without an apparent cause, you have hearing loss, or you feel dizzy along with tinnitus.

Medical Treatment for Tinnitus – What Stops the Ringing?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I have been tinnitus sufferer for 8 years.  However, through using a variety of techniques I have had significant success in treating my own tinnitus and have managed to reduce the ringing by about 90%.

Tinnitus comes from the Latin word for ringing and leads to the consistent perception of sound in one or both ears.  The noises can only be heard by the sufferer and can’t be detected externally.  The noises range from sufferer to sufferer.  Personally, mine us characterised by a high pitched whine very similar to the feedback when point a microphone at a speaker.  It can be a very debilitating condition.  Although most gradually learn to live with it, for some it can be a significant problem preventing them from living a normal life.

Unfortunately medical treatment for tinnitus is in its infancy.  In some instances where there is an underlying physical problem the condition is readily resolved.  For instance, tinnitus caused by excessive earwax can be removed by clearing the ears by syringing.  However, for most sufferers the symptoms are caused by nerve damage which is irreversible.  This type of tinnitus is very difficult to treat using conventional medicine.

Medical treatment for tinnitus generally revolves around helping patients to accept and learn to live with their condition.  The hope is that, with time the brain will learn to recognise that the offending noise is not a threat and gradually filters it out as background noise.  This is the basis for successful method called tinnitus retraining therapy.  The other option is to use a masker (device rather like a hearing aid) which generated white noise which hides (or masks) the condition.

There is little place for conventional medication in the medical treatment for tinnitus.  Medicines such as sedatives, antidepressants and anxiolytics may help although scientific to support use of the treatments is lacking.  Complementary therapies such as Ginkgo Biloba are also frequently stated to have a place in medical treatment for tinnitus. However, results from clinical trials are disappointing.

Personally I have achieved significant success in reducing my symptoms by trying techniques developed by other sufferers which have been established based on trial and error (sometimes over a lifetime).  Although evidence is only anecdotal the success that I have achieved using these methods has been quite extraordinary.  The benefits have been significantly greater that conventional medical treatment for tinnitus.

The Smartest Tinnitus Cure

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I wanted to take the time to share with you the smartest tinnitus cure that I think can really help you. Tinnitus is a condition where your ears produce ringing sounds that aren’t real or at least external in nature. The idea of hearing ringing doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is something that you can’t turn off. It follows you when you go to work. It is ringing while you’re trying to fall asleep in the middle of the night. This is a condition that drives people’s nuts. It weighs on your mentally, so fixing this with the smartest tinnitus cure should be a priority. The mainstream cures for this problem aren’t that great and they might even scare you. Surgery is a very popular one that is offered by doctors. They literally have surgery on your ears, which is expensive and has a lot of risk associated with it. Another way they deal with this issue is by prescribing medication. Basically it will numb you from the sound of the ringing, but it doesn’t stop it. You’ll have to buy medication for the rest of your life, which can be costly for most people.

So basically the smartest tinnitus cure I have come across is a totally mental solution. Basically you can train your mind to ignore consistent sounds, just as how your brain will ignore the sound of a fan or heater while you’re trying to sleep. You do this by focusing your mind on single things. This is tough at first, but you can easily pick up on this after a while.
